Layout Tool Final Touches
I got the layout tool to work in houdini, it was done (or as done as time will allow). I did do some minor adjustments since the last devlog, like I got it to exclude the borders that were not touching a road. (so the buildings wouldn't spawn kinda in the middle of nowhere on the borders of the city).
Unreal Engine Integration
Then this week I did something that I've been deeply afraid of doing because I knew something most certainly would go wrong - I brought the layout tool into unreal engine. And this went horribly, it would not work, I don't know why. It seemed to not do the initial block creation properly (with the curves and boolean). And I literally don’t know why. So I got very frustrated and literally didn't touch it for like 3 days. Then I tried again.
And it worked…
???
I have no clue why it suddenly started working but i'm not gonna complain.

I also did some assorted other things, I started working on the road tool, and then I went back to the custom building generator and I made some progress with getting it to read the patterns but it's still finicky and doesn't work very well.
